As a fan of the original "Alien" and "Predator" movies, this movie was a big disappointment.
It can't be hard to produce at least a decent movie with having the two most dangerous aliens in Hollywood in your cast. Of course Directors Greg and Colin Strause managed to take the popular video game and slaughter the hell out of it to make this bad movie.
As a sequel to "AVP: Aliens vs. Predator," the hybrid Alien-Predator that ended AVP starts AVPR by helping the Predator spacecraft filled with Alien specimens crash on Earth in the town of Crested Butte, Colo. The Predator home planet learns of the crash and the release of the Aliens on Earth. So they sent a whole one Predator to save the day. This is the first major fall of the movie. Why only send one Predator? Isn't this Aliens vs. Predator? Even the last movie had three Predators.

You would think they would send more than one Predator.
The second down fall of this movie is seen throughout the movie. The acting is horrible and the characters have the lowest IQ's I've seen in a while. What you would consider common sense is a stroke of genius in this movie. In one part of the movie, survivors travel to the hospital to get to the helicopter. But when they arrive it's totally deserted, which in common sense means "get the hell away from there!".
Also, following the generic, redundant and lackluster idea of having the bad boy become the hero, the Strause brothers had Dallas (Steven Pasquale) save the day who just got out of jail basically the same day. It's nice that someone who changed their life around saves the day, but the idea could have been greatly more developed.
The third and probably the biggest failure is the fact there is little fighting between the Aliens and Predator. The focus is mostly on the stupid humans trying to survive the Aliens and Predator killings they're dishing out onto them. Furthermore, unlike AVP, the Predator in this movie could care less about saving humans and actually uses humans as Alien bait. Also, this Predator seems to be working for the CIA because for most of the movie it spends most of its time getting rid alien evidence.

Lets make some babies.
Like it's prequel, AVPR offers new moves and technologies from both the Aliens and Predator. The Alien-Predator hybrid can create new hybrid aliens by injecting liquid into pregnant human mothers via their mouths who give birth to the new Aliens shortly after. Also, the Aliens appear to be more intelligent that they were in AVP. The Predator is equipment with laser cutting remotes and a pump-action energy shotgun.
Despite the hordes of Aliens invading the quite Colorado town and new fancy moves and equipments from the alien species, this movie is a sad, sad disappointment. If you're looking for a great movie, look elsewhere. But if you're looking for a poor produced Sci-Fi movie that "could have been," then this is for you.
SCORE: 2.5/5
